The 2025 ASEAN Health Qigong Wellness Conference was successfully held from October 23 to 28 in Guilin, Guangxi, China. The event brought together a total of 144 guests and representatives from China, ASEAN countries, Japan, and Korea. Participants included Health Qigong enthusiasts and promotion representatives from various regions and organizations such as Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Beijing, Guilin and Guangxi.

The Malaysian Health Qigong Association sent a delegation of 42 representatives to participate in this grand event. Delegates were selected from various states across Malaysia under the coordination of the national association, actively engaging in learning and exchange activities. Their participation demonstrated Malaysia’s strong commitment, teamwork, and professional development in promoting Health Qigong.

During the conference, delegates attended a series of specialized training sessions and academic exchange programs. Professor Liu Xiaolei from Beijing Sport University conducted workshops on Tai Chi Health Stick Exercise and The Cultural Essence of Health Qigong Baduanjin, offering in-depth insights into the integration of Health Qigong with exercise science and wellness principles. Professor Chen Jing from the Sports Bureau of Bozhou, Anhui Province, led the Campus Wuqinxi Instructor Training Program, which further promoted the dissemination of Health Qigong in schools and among young people.

In addition, Professor Wu Yunchuan from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine delivered a theoretical lecture on Health Qigong Constitution-Based Exercise Prescription. His presentation provided participants with a deeper understanding of how Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory can be applied in designing exercise prescriptions based on the nine body constitutions, helping practitioners adjust their bodies in a targeted way to achieve balance and overall wellness.

As part of the cultural and experiential activities, the organizers arranged a demonstration and exchange session at Elephant Trunk Hill, one of Guilin’s most iconic landmarks. The Malaysian delegation presented a collective performance of Health Qigong Liu Zi Jue (Six Healing Sounds). The team performed with focus and vitality, showcasing the elegance and spirit of Malaysian Health Qigong practitioners. The performance attracted numerous visitors, leaving a lasting impression and sparking widespread interest in this traditional wellness practice.

During the closing ceremony, team members from Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, and the Klang Valley collaborated seamlessly. They wore traditional Baju Nyonya Baba costumes, representing Malaysia’s cultural diversity and the association’s unity. Both male and female participants took part, and the performance, complemented by engaging music and dance, brought the event atmosphere to its peak, highlighting the perfect combination of cultural expression and Health Qigong practice.

Through this conference, the Malaysian delegation not only deepened its understanding of the cultural and scientific aspects of Health Qigong, but also gained valuable experience for future promotion and development efforts in various fields.

The Malaysian Health Qigong Association will continue to leverage this conference as an opportunity to actively promote Health Qigong nationwide, strengthen instructor training and academic research, expand practice sites and activity platforms, and contribute to public health improvement and regional cultural exchange.
